To the guys that left their trash out on Eagle Lake in Sherburne Cty, don’t worry I picked it up for you. Also, I took the two 1 lb tanks you left and refilled them. Thanks for saving me $10! Next time, pick your crap up.

And when an access gets closed we always think the landowners are buttheads-noise litter, keeping too many…

I also pick up other losers trash all the time when ice fishing, open water fishing and hunting. It’s sad really. I smoke and I even make sure I get all my butts off the ice and when in the boat I field strip them and keep them in the boat and clean it out after. I wish all of the people using our resources felt the same way we did.

    Good job Dirty waytogo

I feel like it’s the same type of people that complain when a lake goes to crap.

Thanks for cleaning up Joe. Unfortunately this problem seems to exist more in the winter months during ice fishing season. It may just be more visible too though. Regardless, it happened during the summer, fall, and will continue to happen this winter.

I am not sure if Marlboro still offers it but they used to give away a free metal container to put your butts in that has something in it that traps all the smells. I forgot it in my coat for a month and didn’t know about it. I have not smoked in years and can pick up the smoke smell like a bloodhound. It works great for my guest.

Thanks for the suggestion Rodwork! Just as long as we keep it clean. I do need to find the gumption one of these days to give those monkeybutts up. toast

Hey…those are my 1 lb tanks I must’ve forgot them when I left the lake. I’d like to have them back…thank you very much. razz

John, same “dirty” habit for me too. For as long as I remember, whether in the boat, in a fish house, out on the ice…I always bring a smaller plastic bottle of pop or bottled water.

I’ll drink it down until there’s only a swallow left. Once I finished the cig, I just drop it in the bottle and it’s extinguished immediately. Screw the cap back on. This’ll work all day, just toss it in the trash when the day is done.

I’m sure this same type of person is same one that leaves the grocery cart in the middle of the parking lot & can’t walk it 20 yards to its place.

This is unfortunately all too common everywhere people fish. I will walk over when someone leaves some of the lakes I fish that get a lot of pressure just to see what they left behind, you’d be amazed at how much stuff I find a year aside from just garbage.

Until there is a serious fine, like loss of license for a year this will continue.

    20 yards!
I’ve seen carts 10 feet from the cart rack and the idiot just drives off. P/$$&$ me off.
If you notice alot of parking lots are on a slope. Amazing, carts roll down hill. Some people don’t understand that gravity always works. Ask me how I know. doah

Nice try, I’ve seen it from all ages and walks of life. Thanks for picking up Joe. I always carry a couple extra target plastic bags with me for situations like this and they’re nice to have.

While I do agree that carts belong back in the corral after use, there is a specific employee at each retail store that is assigned to collect and return them back to the store. I know this because I did it back in the day.

There’s no one assigned to pick up after you in the great outdoors unless you’re at a designated camps site or in a state park.

I am always picking up people’s crap. I do the same on public land when I am hunting. I am still kicking myself for not grabbing a 20lb LP tank that someone left for running their buddy heater in the blind. But I was over a mile from the truck…was gone the next day. It just pisses me off. Aside from the pollution, it just looks stupid.
The worst part of the stuff I picked up this weekend was that I could tell they were fishing out of a flip over. How hard is it to put it in the bottom of the sled and clean it out when you get home? It took me like 30 sec to pick all their crap up. The other part that gets me worked up is all the people that walked by the trash without picking it up.
I am planning on doing a few hikes this year in the Sand Dune state forest to pick up trash if anyone wants to join.

Not sure if this one went down an ice hole or left in the sand after a party. But 40 ish years later here it is washed up on the beach at Mille Lacs this summer.

You will find trash anywhere a human has ever been, or sometimes anywhere they have flown over.

It’s probably not. But it’s clearly more visible and when people spend more time out there they generate more waste and trash. Regardless of who is generating it at any time of year, it’s disrespectful and low.
