Picture was taken about 65 yards away from the kitchen window. He came into the cabin yard about 4:30 yesterday, moseyed around then decided to scratch an itch.

Tom is this the bear that keeps showing up on people’s cameras around Rochester?

Based on the picture Ma and I figured he was over ten feet tall standing on his hinds. When he walked, it was more a waddle.

Beautiful pelt. Solid black, no brown or white. Many solid black bears have a brown muzzle. Not this guy. Black as tar. Walking away to his scratching post I could see his pads on the rear feet pretty plain and those feet were huge.

Its worth living to see something like this so close.

That’s one heck of a picture, standing up and in broad daylight too.

He wouldn’t stay so “dinky” if you filled your deer feeder with donut holes!

If that is in fact 10 feet tall you have a world record black bear in your backyard. That’s Kodiak brown bear sized.
