Hen of the woods?

    That is a hen. Per normal it’s pretty dirty so clean it well for dirt/sand/bugs. I’ve found a few like that, after some heavy rains like we’ve had, that had sand/gravel that have grown into to flesh itself so be careful when you dig in. Besides recipes listed in this link, you can also dehydrate and grind fine to make mushroom powder. Good luck

    Man are they good!! Got a huge bag today from my cousin fried’m up in bacon grease and a little garlic salt. Kinda reminds me of morels.

    Hens are my favorite next to Morels!! Nice find! They’re out this time of year at the bases of growing oak trees. Yum
