What is this last weekend fishing report for P4?
Going to be in town for business, should I need to bring my boat?
Last weekend the freshwater drum were on a tear along with an occasional white bass. Walleye/Sauger were tough, but available if you worked at it. Hope this helps.
There are always walleye sauger available 1 day there on fire the next day they don’t bite like you want! I enjoy getting out and on most occasions it’s not the fish count but the experience on the water if you don’t have the fish drive or are content with not fishing I would say leave your boat home cuz you will hate my report from yesterday! Here it comes 1 5″ walleye lmao! Good luck and bring your boat. trust your electronics no fish move. everyday is a new day on the river, there are some real great guides if you want fish but even they get skunked pm me if you want guide info
Rollers are currently up and unless you can slide out of the current, good luck! I wasted 2 hours going thru 2 no wake zones to see that I couldn’t fish up that way. Is there a way to know if the rollers are up without going that way? Damcam anyone?

Run the race track…
Bite is consistently good!
I bet it is walleye whisperer! If its on the interweb, it must be true. Your arms still in a sling from all those hooksets?
Fishbait: Don’t forget the plastics!
Current seams associated with stiff current are holding fish in numbers. You can still find a few pre-spawn eyes in the spawning grounds. Don’t be afraid to be in some stiff current, most boats will play in the less-current side and catch will suffer for it.

We ran it with Marty Hahn last week….not even my boat and the pucker factor was high!

I have it all mapped, certainly cuts the time down getting to and fro.
Here’s a few from last night.

when my trolling motor is on 90% and I need 100 yards of line out to feel bottom, I dont fish it.
The fish are always in the river and pretty much always eating.
What works today may not work tomorrow but there are always fish to be caught.
Right around 33k cfs is when the rollers move up or in the water. We’re at 59,600 right now.
For an auto text message that can update a person with more info most want, go to water.usgs.gov/Hns?pdd6f
For myself I want to know when the red wing gauge gets to 8’. It doesn’t sent a text until 8’ and stops once it recedes below 8’. Same with flow.

Just watch out for guys trolling the first stretch of the track off the ‘sconi back channel.
I am not much of a river fisherman and have not fished P4 for a few years but with the nice weather this past weekend, fished mostly around the can line for two days from 6 – 1:30. In the main channel, off to the side, and up close to shore. We marked a lot of fish, not sure if they were walleyes. We mostly pulled 3 ways but also tried dubuque, vertical, and plain cranks.
Our take for the two days, 1 sauger, 1 walleye, 2 SMB, 1 LMB. We only saw one additional fish caught by all the boats out there so I guess we could say we had great results.
And when a couple of grand daughters are begging to come along, get up at 5:30 and not wishing to stay longer, priceless.

That’s what it’s all about! Nice work Grandpa!

I like them kicking on the fillet table, makes for good blood splatter on the wall.

Do you take the cheeks and wings?
One day they’re hot, the next day they’re not. One of the most famous persons in the world, Dean Marshall, once told me the best factual statement ever about fishing pool 4: “you must be present to win”. If you don’t bring your boat you’ll never know, doesn’t matter what happened last weekend.

Do you take the cheeks and wings? No i do not.
Folks i serve fish to do not enjoy these. I don’t either.
But, i’d bet the wings would make good channel catfish bait if the fins are cut off.Good bite yesterday. Biggest 26″.
Damn never thought of using those for cat hair? Actually is that legal is this state? Or what they don’t know won’t hurt them?
Only legal on the WI side of the river that borders WI/MN, if the walleye was caught on the WI side of the river also.
I know of one catter who likes to use sauger heads like i use sheepshead heads.
On the MN side, STRONG NO!
