I’m wondering if the Otter pro staff can help get otter to make a 2-3 rod sportsmanship case? I have the original & it is awesome, but there are many days that I only need 2-3 rods, such as when I’m fishing the Mississippi back waters & am up and own through the ditches & over the rail road tracks. It’s not so much a weight issue as the current sportsman case is a little clumsy in these scenarios when I’m trying to keep things to a minimum. I’m looking for a quality, robust solution & hopefully you can help out.

I will agree. I talked to Ice Innovations regarding a smaller hard sided rod case. I think there is definitely a market for a 3-4 rod case. Many hard sided gun cases would work but are way too long. We need something a lot less bulky than the current Otter Rod Box. Even the current Frabill breakdown shot gun case is too bulky Would also like to see a folding handle and something that would hold 36″ rods. This would help the portable travel of us on snowmobiles going many miles on the ice.

Frabill has a smaller hard case, it still might be too bulky for what you are looking for, but it’s a nice little hard case that fits 4 rods comfortably, but if needed you could shove 6 inside. Take a look.

    Thanks Tonka,
I have seen that Frabill & it is still larger than I’d like. Scheels has one that is close, but it is a semi hard case that is to short for 32″ rods.

I feel that that the manufacturers ar missing out on an opportunity. For the guys that like to travel light. I know they’d sell a ton down here in Iowa.
My thought is similar to Gonehunting’s. Smaller case with a folding handle or just a handle that is made from material similar to motorcycle straps. Hopefully some of the Otter pro staff read this & could help persuade the folks at Otter to answer our needs. I know of at least 12 people that would snatch one up in a heart beat.

if you are looking for something that is less bulky than the sportmans case or the frabill hard sided case go with an arrow case of some kind. Will fit 2-3 rods nicely and should fit well in a shack.

Use a hard arrow case, I’ve used one for a few years now

If this is the Scheels case you were talking about, it does fit 32″ rods. I like mine, I use it for panfish rods mostly and use my
Otter case for my walleye rods, but it works great inside my one man flipover. The otter case is just too big for the one man. I did throw in a 32″ rod on the bottom just so you could see that it fits.
