I know of a few have done this. It has worked out for some and not so well for other. Know a few whop traveled a fair distance and then the auto was not in the shape they expected. There is also the issue with the title transfer and taxes that has to come into play when purchasing a out of state auto. Not saying its not a good idea and may be well worth it.

I have opened up my search to a fair distance away. Not really finding much for price difference from one state to the next. Prices seem high everywhere. This inflation has to slow down at some point. I believe there is going to be a correction in used auto prices at some point with the higher interest rates. Just not sure how soon that is going to happen. The whole supply and demand also comes into play. Right now seems to be way more demand than supply. That never helps the buyer

All but 1 vehicle we have bought have been purchased this way. No title or tax issues in the slightest. The Tahoe came from Ohio just 2 years ago.

I’d assume if the sales tax is less where you purchase you will need to pay the difference at registration time.

I just paid tax at the local dmv when we transfered title.

Plenty of room in the trunk for all of our tackle bags and life jackets. I just wish they would come out with a 5’6″box. My only complaint.
Michael BestPosts: 1201April 23, 2024 at 7:35 am #2268809I bought my Toyota Tundra in Scott’s Bluff Ne. Did some searching on the internet and found the truck I wanted.
The wife and I left on a Friday night after work. Spent the night in chamberlain SD. Drive to Scott’s bluff picked up truck Saturday morning then spent the night in Rapid City. Drive home the next day.
Went to motor vehicle and paid sales tax and registered the truck.April 27, 2024 at 5:50 pm #2269772Perched outside my door, “Nevermore!”

May 10, 2024 at 12:21 pm #2271977What color ridgeline did you end up with?
If this is directed at me. Nothing new yet. Kind of stepped back from looking. I doubt that a Ridgeline will be the choice. I’ve got nothing against them but when I told the wife lots of people where recommending one, she was not a big fan of the choice. Just not me as well. Do they even sell MENS trucks where they sell those ?
May 10, 2024 at 12:26 pm #2271978Well shoot. They even give you a badazzled man purse with your name on it to match it!

Well now were talking. That may now change my mind. Hard not to love a Badazzled blinged out man purse.

I pulled my boat up to Fergus Falls this afternoon with my work truck. (Chevy Colorado ZR2) with the baby duramax diesel engine. Bucking a 25 to 35 mph wind I still got 16 miles to the gallon.Drove out to Underwood ND and back the last 2 days. Truck averaged 30.9 mpg for the trip. This was on a mix of 2 lane highways and interstate.
Typically when you delete the emissions (after warranty has expired) the truck will have more power and better fuel economy. No more def needed and no more costly repairs due to the def system acting up.
Been paying $3.60 to $3.69 a gallon for diesel the past few weeks.
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22539May 11, 2024 at 9:41 am #2272091Michael that little duramax isnt the 3.0 is it? I dont believe so. Anyways does that one have the same flaw with that belt maintenance?

I think it’s a little 2.8 inline 4. Cylinder. My work truck has 74,000 miles on it and the only thing we had to replace so far was a sensor went bad. Can’t remember what it controlled. The shop guys had to take the wheel well apart to get at the sensor. Couldn’t tell you about the belt.
I was wrong on the mileage with the wind yesterday. It was 13 mpg bucking that wind.
This morning with no wind I got 18 pulling the boat up to leech lake from Fergus falls.I hate to say this but I think it does better than my tundra with a V8 in it.
I do like the engine brake as well when it’s in tow haul. I haven’t put any additives in the fuel either. I just put a blended fuel in it over the winter months.
May 29, 2024 at 1:07 pm #2274849Update on what I ended up. After research and a fair amount of looking around I ended up with a 2018 Ford F-150 XLT Sport FX with the 2.7 eco boost engine. Has several different sales people tell me they pull their bigger boats with their 2.7 and have no problems. Would have preferred the 3.5 eco boost engine but was not finding many of those and none was as good of a deal as I got on this one. It has 72,000 Picking it up after work tonight. Going to discuss extended warrant at that time. Depending on cost I’m most likely going to purchase one. I never end up ahead on them but with my slight fears with the smaller turbo engine and other electronics on the newer one I think I would just feel better if I had one.
RiverratPosts: 1516May 29, 2024 at 3:26 pm #2274864Are those numbers reversed. Shouldn’t it be 5.3 and 7.2, or is that another thread?
May 29, 2024 at 3:28 pm #2274865Missed opportunity there
Ya I know. Should have just went with the ridgeline and got that badazzled man purse with my name on it

I think you will be very happy with this truck. I have a 2012 FX4 with the 3.5 and it has 200k on it. Its still going strong and I hope it does because I dont want a truck payment right now haha

I bought a 2016 with 88k about a year and half ago. I bought the extended powertrain warranty for $2600 that is a 3yr 36k warranty. So far to date I’m about $800 to the positive that the warranty has saved me. Not trying to scare you just saying if you didn’t get one you may want to look into it. I have a Zurich warranty I got through the dealer.

The mini van with the baby chopped back. They are pretty dang ugly lol but I’d still drive one. I’d have that Ridgeline before the f150 baby turbo for sure. I wish I didn’t need to heavy haul all the time. I’d definitely have a small truck.
May 31, 2024 at 7:33 am #2275095Congrats on the new truck, hopefully she will give you many problem free miles.
10klakesPosts: 520May 31, 2024 at 8:24 am #2275104Congrats. Love my 2.7.
Do NOT purchase the extended warranty through the dealer. Flood Ford, Granger Ford, or Zeigler Ford have the cheapest pricing bar none for certified ESP warranties. All online super easy. Search any ford forum etc. and that is the direction everyone recommends. I would check Granger first based on recent pricing posts threads I’ve seen.

Beauty is in the eye of the beerholder. Its a chopped Pilot not a mini van.

Not much difference. Again I’m not knocking. Just stating a simple observation. The front end looks more similar to the odyssey then the pilot but most years pilots also look like a minivan.
