My daughter teaches at an inner city charter school and they want to have an urban fishing activity. They are looking for cheap or free used rods and reels for the class. Anyone have any ideas where she could find something like this?

I’d set time aside each weekend to hit up bait and sporting goods store within the school’s district boundaries and ask if they’d support the venture with some rods/reels, possibly bait.

    What inner city?

    Would love to help out.

Years back I bought a bunch of stuff for an event and spoke with the manager at gander mountain, took 10% off.

I’m a fan of talking to folks in person, ask for manager, see what they can do. Easy to say no over the phone, in person usually they will help ya out one way or another.

Thanks everyone for the information. I will pass it on to her. This is a charter school in St. Paul. I always think it’s a great idea to introduce kids to outdoor activities like this.

I also have stuff I would donate. It’s all used with the exception of one rod that is brand new that I will never use.

I must say, a few years ago I tried donating to an organization in MPLS and they wouldn’t respond/ follow-up with me to get my stuff. Ended up donating it to a really great organization in Hastings that takes kids and old folks out on the river in pontoons to go fishing and cruising.
