Help Finding A Transom Corner Cap

Hello all, new to the forum. I have a 1985 Lund Tyee 5.3 that needs a passenger side transom corner cap. The original got broke just above the mounting screws and ended up at the bottom of the lake (long story). After extensive searching I’ve had no luck in locating a used one. My next option may be to fabricate a new one from some aluminum angle but figured I’d give this forum a shot first. The one in the photo is the drivers side. Thanks in advance for any help on this.

I’m looking for the exact same cap for my 2001 Lund Angler.
    (long story too!)

I’ve been sending emails to boat salvage yards but most don’t return the message. Looks like I’ll have to start calling.

What area are you from Greg?

I’m in Northern Minnesota (The Range) so not much for boat junkyards around. I’m afraid that when recycled alum/steel was at an all time high a while back people cashed in on it. The cap we’re looking for is probably a 12 pack of Michelob Golden Light.

I checked into those, the Starcraft ones, and the measurements across the back of the transom on them (5 1/2″) are to small.

Have you called Lund? They typically have some NOS stuff on hand, or may know where to find them. Maybe even get you the part number.

I called a dealer and they called Lund. No part or part number… Or where to get one besides a scrap yard.

When I retired I sold the Tig machine I had at home, didn’t want to be pestered with any more welding. Really could have used it now to fab up a clone of that bracket.

Well, I couldn’t stand it and had to buy a TIG machine. Haven’t had one since I retired. Since I needed this corner cap and couldn’t find one I talked myself into it. (Plus no one around here is welding boats right now)

Here’s a couple of pics, the first is the rough finish, second the polished bracket. Fits good and now my search is over. Plus it’s not cast so it won’t crack and end up at the bottom of the lake like the last one.

Hey GW, what are the chances you’d be willing to fabricate another transom corner bracket? Not exactly like the one above but I could provide all measurements and some $$ of course. I’m missing port side for my 1997 Sea Nymph TX175.

I’ll check on the material in that width and get back to you. Is the edge parallel to the gunwale 90 degrees with the top?

Not quite parallel. I think probably at like 75-ish degrees or so. I got in contact with a local weld shop and I’m supposed to stop by there Monday afternoon, he said he could help me out so hopefully that works. If not, I’ll be back to where I started. Thank you.

I also need corner caps , but for a 1999 16 foot Lund Pro Sport.
Its a lot different than the one you pictured.
It has two rubber pieces on each corner. And not anywhere close to the ones pictured in the threads,
Anyone know where to find the outside corners? Lund dealer cant even find a part number for me!!@

Well there you go GW. You just created a small business for yourself. Funny how things work out.
