I booked a trip to stay at mille lacs on 9/23 to 9/26. I haven’t fished there for 20 years and am pumped about the trip. We are staying around SE part of the lake(Isle). Any suggestions where the to fish and what techniques during that time. Hopefully we are at a good location, we are novice fishermen and just want some good action. Traveling 6 hours, so hope for a memorable trip. Thanks in advanced and tight lines.

Not necessarily Craig. It was assumed based on projections at the time but pressure, harvest, weather, and mortality will dictate whether that will occur starting Sept 16. Not a given yet. See below

“Our projections strongly suggest that fall harvest can occur,” Parsons said. “However, predicting fishing pressure, catch rates and weather involves some uncertainty so we want people to recognize that the fall harvest will depend on how much of the state’s 2021 walleye allocation remains as we approach September. As always, we will monitor the factors that determine the state’s walleye take throughout the open water season.”

Not a terrible idea to get a guide for half a day. Help get keyed in on locations and patterns.

Fish could be all over that time of year and a guide might help narrow down a lot of water for you.

I will be your guide for the day. 1/2 the price of a real guide and half the knowledge. But I pull some dandies out of that lake.

Find some rocks and pull around a bullet sinker, 4-6 foot snell and a wide gap hook with a sucker minnow. You will likely need to play the wind if it’s above 10 mph, so don’t be afraid to trailer over to Garrison or Malmo depending on the wind direction.
