    Hello Everyone,
Can anyone give me the concrete evidence that I for sure need a Helmet when riding on my atv on Lake Winnipeg? Does the person riding with me also need one? Also, do I need to have the atv registered and licensed? I have found many forums online stating one side and other stating the other. I honestly don’t know, but just want to make sure I am completely legal when I go in March. Would rather not have any unforeseen issues that ruin this trip. Thanks in advance.

Yes it needs to be licensed according to state you reside in. Helmets are required for all people riding or driving a ATV/Snowmobile.

Quick google search…..All Canadian provinces require a motorcycle helmet for rider and passenger irrespective of age or training

We brought helmets…wore them day 1 last year…saw everyone else not wearing them…they got tossed in the sleds unless it was a long haul bc the ice is about as smooth as a chisel plowed corn field or it was cold
Pry a good idea to take them with and wear them on your initial trip out and trip off the ice…thats what i did if i was just bombing around moving a few hundred yards or so i didnt wear it

Thanks. I have already tracked down a helmet from a buddy and am in the process of getting my wheeler licensed. As they always say, better safe than sorry!

Yes it’s mandatory up here. Expensive fine too. The nro’s watch from a distance. I wear a motorcycle beanie helmet. PITA, but I would bring it.
