Helix & map download, worth it?

I just up-dated my Helix 7 SI GN2 to 1.83. I downloaded the Humminbird base map to my computer. Has anyone else done this and loaded them on to their helix 5 or 7? Was it worth it? I don’t want to load all these maps and end up losing processor speed or just getting crapping maps that I won’t use.

Thanks for the feedback in advance.

    yes, its worth it.

Can you elaborate? I have Lakemaster MN, Lakemaster Woods-Rainy and Navionics+ cards in addition to the Humminbird Contour Elite which is the stock preloaded charting. That covers any water I’d ever anticipate fishing, including Canada (Navionics+). I also have AutoChart Live. The new Humminbird Basemap lake listing makes no mention of high-definition charts, so I assume they are all 10-foot contours. And it may be a typo, but Minnetonka isn’t even on the lake list. So why bother?

Hi Doug and Ron, I don’t think the free maps are worth it unless you tap out of cash on the initial purchase, I’ve got the MN and LOW with the same stuff you have and really couldn’t ask for more info, plus I’m old school if it aint broke don’t mess with it : )
