I have a helix 12. Can anyone tell me if its able to be connected to a Helix 7 or 9? Read they both have to be gen 2 units. How do you tell. Picture is tag off my helix 12.

I’ve got a gen 1 helix 12 hooked up to my 9 up front no problem. Only problem is none of them can share lake maps so you need a chip in each unit. I think that’s even the same in the g2 units. Not sure if the 7 will link up

If the unit has G2N as part of it’s name it will network. The N stands for network. So a Helix 7 GPS G2N will network but a Helix 7 GPS G2 will not.

Helix 9/10/12 gen 1 or 2 will network with Helix 7 g2n, any other Helix 9/10/12 gen 1 or 2, and minn kota iLink. Helix 5/7 gen 1 or g2 will not network with anything.

On the helix series you can share waypoints and transducers between units but not maps. In order to get that capability you will need to go to the Solix series.

So does the “N2170” on the tag mean its a gen 2 unit or am I missing something?

If it is a gen 2 unit it would have G2N on the front of the unit somewhere as well as in the name. I would say that this is a gen 1 helix 12 side imaging unit.
