Any one know where the pricing will come in on the Helix 10 G2N?

I would assume it will be close to the Gen 1 model, but I don’t know?

Interesting…last night when I followed that link and clicked to view all the units, you could see the MSRP and add them to a purchase cart. I must have caught it as they were working on updating the site since the pricing/purchase info is gone today.

fwiw, the Helix 12 Mega SI GPS G2N unit was listed at $2399, which is $100 more than the standard price on the existing Helix 12 SI GPS. any remaining Gen 1 units should continue to be cleared at at prices much lower than MSRP.

all the gen1’s could be purchased from online distributors at HUGE discounts the last few months, I suspect you’ll see the bigbox stores do huge discounts this holiday season to look good even though they are just clearing out old Gen1 stock…buy online

Bass pro and some other not so well known say they have the helix 7 g2’s for sale but I don’t know what to think about that since humminbird said they won’t be out until december.

Buying marine electronics is just like buying a new computer. The second you buy you’re out of date. I bought a Helix 7 Gen 1 this spring.

i’m not quite sold yet on the idea that the Mhz frequency and chirp SI/DI will lead to more fish in the boat. sharper images, yes. fish in the boat?

i’ve been comparing the G1 Helix 12 SI and G2 Helix 12 SI Chirp for a new unit on my current network.
    there’s a pretty big cost savings: G1 $1700 on sale vs G2N $2500
the G1 will network with xxx9-series Core units. it’s not yet clear if the G2N units will do this; if not, that’s a deal-breaker as i’m not prepared to completely replace my network.
in looking at the specs side by side, it appears that the difference between a G1 and G2N unit is the SI/DI power and SI/DI chirp – at a cost of almost double the draw on the battery. the G1 will still chirp the sonar, albeit not quite as well as the G2N’s new transducer. the G1 has the same cool mapping abilities like AutoChart, and the G1 will provide SI up to 800khz – which i already rarely use because the 455khz is usually more than adequate.

do you see adding 1.2Mhz chirping SI/DI be worth $800 in terms of locating and catching fish, or am i penny-wise to by the “obsolete” G1 unit?

I am with you, I want to get a 9″ on my dash, and 7″ on the bow. So I will buy a clearance 9 SI (G1) for a lot cheaper, but I will wait for the G2N version of the 7″ so I can network to my dash from the bow. but even with that being said, if a basic 9 goes on clearance close to the price of the new 7″, I might be getting two G1 9’s

the new tech looks cool, but for the extra cost, I would rather put the money saved in other gear

imo the gen 1 Helix/legacy units provide more than enough clarity and resolution to the DI/SI images. Yes, MEGA will be better, but do I really care if I can see that a boulder has a sharp vs rounded edge to it? IMO, no, I really just care that I can see the boulder…

to me it’s like 720p vs 1080p on a TV set…yes 1080p is better, but not much for the huge price increase we used to pay for it…

The bluetooth connection for your phone is a gimmick until they figure out a way to eliminate the i-Pilot Link cable and connect it through bluetooth…

I would imagine that they are heading towards bluetooth networks and eliminating all cables to make them talk. That is just my speculation though

that’s what i’ve been thinking too…when the time rolls around for my next boat, getting a whole new network of electronics connected wirelessly over bluetooth will be sweet.
in the meanwhile, i’ve just have to “suffer” with a legacy set of incredibly awesome Humminbird/MinnKota products. poor me. ;-)

I’m in the same boat (pun intended) “suffering” with a generation 1 helix series and ipilot link network. Life is rough sometimes lol
