You can link it to a comparable unit with down or side image and share that info.

    No you cannot.

    he could do that actually

If you have a 2d unit, it can only do 2d. You cannot link it to an SI unit and have the 2d unit display SI.

    Your link proves that.

    I’d you could do that…

I’d have a 5″ SI on the bow(or stuffed ina compartment since they’re useless tiny), a network box, and two solix 15’s on the dash displaying SI…

All For a fraction of the price of and 11&12″ SI currently residing in my dash.

    Yeah. Nope!!

    FBRM,
I bought new locators this spring. I had 1198 and 858 before. You are correct about how the old ones worked. I have 1 Humminbird Helix 10 G2N SI Mega, and the other Helix 10 is just a G2N with 2D, and I have a Helix 7 G2N with 2D. I have them all linked together. I can see the SI on all of them. I don’t know if this was the case with the Helix G1, but it is the case on the G2’s.

    Helix 5 isn’t networkable.

BUT helix 7 G2N is and according to this chart you can view SI from a Helix 7 SI G2N on Helix 9 & Helix 12 sonar/gps units. No idea if this chart is accurate or not.

tswoboda, that can’t be true. FBRM is never wrong!

Edit: Nice to see you owned up to it FBRM. It’s true that we learn something new every day!

I’ll happily eat my words friend!!

I may need to look into further and maybe get the 15’s I’ve been wanting.
Thank you for setting me straight.

Happy to help. I asked lots of questions this spring when I bought them and was surprised with the answers I got. The Mega SI is really cool.

Guys who upgraded to the HD transducer on your Helix 9 SI, how much improvement have you noticed? I know the transducer has to be mounted properly and I purchased a new HD transducer and have to wait until spring. I am just really curious. thanks, Ron.
