Helix 9 SI or 999ci HD SI

I have been looking to purchase new Humminbird to connect to my I-Pilot Link.
At this time, there are new 999s available for less than $1000. Or new Helix 9 SI available for $98x.
Do I choose new tech or proven tech? and Why?

The Helix 9 actually has a 9″ diagonal screen, the mis-numbered 9xx series are 8″. Since the Helix 9 & 10 share the same housing, can you go 10″?

I don’t think it’s really newer tech at all. Just updated screen and processing power under the hood! I would go helix for the autochart live capabilities!

I just ordered my new boat with a helix 10 SI. The 9 and the 10 are in the same dimension case the screen in the 9 is just smaller. Also with the 9 you don’t get as nice of a transducer (non HD) as you do with the 10 or 12. The main selling point for me was the autochart live built into the unit.

Well, I had continued to shop. I found an offer that I couldn’t refuse.

A new 899 from Hodges Marine for $599 plus $8.95 shipping, no tax. Can’t wait to connect it to my I-pilot Link this spring.

    Thanks for the input.

you’ll see 999’s start to creep towards that price point too as distributors find more and more inventory sitting in warehouses (That’s where the 899’s $599 inventory came from)….Whenever buying an SI unit, get the biggest screen you can afford…

I currently have a 999si unit I got for $800 (after rebate) a year ago and it works just fine, although if I was buying new today, I’d opt for a Helix 9 or 10

Anyone know if the helix can network with the 99 series units through Ethernet?

The helix 9s 10s and 12s will network with core series XX9 models not XX8 models if you want them to share everything.

So painful to hear these prices, knowing what I paid for my 3 birds when they were new on the market lol.

    All good things though!!!

So if I put a Helix 9di on the console, I need another unit for the bow connected to us2 transducer on Minnkota iPilot Link. What’s my best overall value for this location?

If using the US/2 built in ducer of your Terrova, then just get the plain Sonar version Helix…
