Is the lithium shuttle a must have on a helix 7 or is it fine the way it is?
I would suggest getting a blue genz box paired with an amped outdoors lithium battery.

Lithium SHUTTLE, no. Lithium BATTERY, yes. This is the route I went.
A few years back I bought the vexilar pro pack carrying case to go along with my Helix 7 and I do NOT recommend. I’ll be in the market for a new case before next ice season for sure.

Why don’t you like it ? Just curious
Highly recommend Vex pro pack. I modified mine a bunch but I just wanted a blank canvas and the pro pack was most customizable to my needs.
Only negative is the base is plastic so it slides but I will be adding a rubber base or feet when I get around to it. Also the puck holder is made for smaller Vex pucks so I will be modifying that at some point to fit the bird ducer. Mine is off my boat so the silicone cover is nice but spendy.
Vex pro pack $30
12ah lithium battery $100
Marcum shuttle $199
I have the set up with that hummingbird offers for the ice package. I normally don’t like having the bag over my unit but this one is really good in that has seperate zipper sides to get to the battery as well as get to the front. It even has a gap on top to grab the support arm for carrying. Only thing I don’t like is the fact that it does not have the arm like I do for my vex and I end up using the styrofoam on my ducer cord. Anyone know how to mount an arm on so I can get rid of that styrofoam? Once I do that I will be all set. I have not upgraded to the lithium battery but next year I will for sure as I will plan on using the Helix as my main Ice Unit as of now I still am using the Vex mainly other than for mapping…
The two posts that the transducer cable wraps around have slots in them. You let out as much cable as you need then slip the cable in the slot to hold it there. Works great. I hate those styrofoam floaters in the hole.
At least this is how the ice package set up came with my G3.

I wasn’t a fan of the slots, just seemed to create a mess for me and I never could get the exact depth I wanted. I bought a marcum arm and stopper and mounted to to my genz box. No messing with cable length or floats. Set it in the arm and start fishing.
Really? I like it better than the arm hanging out over the hole even. Either way anythings better than that big floatie in the hole.
Buy a marcum arm and find a bolt that fits the hole at the bottom of the case where the transducer cable is stored. First thing I did on my ice 55 years ago to get rid of the stupid float….probably same design?

I just made this up in the shop. Took only a few minutes and it bolts right to upright for the cord containment. I used black walnut and Brazilian Cherry but you could obviously use any scrap wood. I did purchase the stopper from Marcum for ~$4.

Make me one?

Yeah just personal preference. Like you said as long as you don’t have to use the float it’s a win in my book!
I use a Helix 7 with a lithium shuttle. I like the set up and it fits in a HumminBird Helix carrying case.
Unfortunately HumminBird does not sell just the carrying case. You have to buy the carrying case and unit mounting stuff to get the case. Ended up with an extra carrying case somehow and the shuttle fits inside nicely. With the shuttle you can use the Marcum arm to hold your transducer and not have the float in the hole. Bought a rubber cork at the hardware store and drilled a hole for the transducer cable to fit through, then split the cork on one side to get the cable in and put one of the gray “cable clamps” that HumminBird uses above the cork.
You could also buy the carrying case and mounting stuff then get a lithium battery and charger and be set.
