Helix 7 on snowmobile

Just want to run the helix 7 on my snowmobile for mapping purposes only but with no transducer the unit starts in simulator mode. Any shortcuts I can preform so when I turn the unit on it goes right into live gps mapping? Or do I have to go through all those steps to get where I want. I run a vexilar so don’t need the transducer. Thanks

Hit menu twice, scroll over to setup, go down to sonar and turn that off.

on start up, hit the menu button as soon as the HELIX 7 screen pops up. It will give you the option to run it in normal, simulator, or system status.

On a different note, is a person able to turn off the GPS on a Helix 7? Just curious if you could turn it off when you find the spot to conserve some battery life? Haven’t been able to find any information on this.

Unplug the power adapter?

Its an internal GPS if I am not mistaken….I would still be using the unit to fish with, just wouldnt need the GPS on….In my experience, GPS kills battery life…..I know it is possible to turn off the sonar, just curious if it was possible to turn off the GPS?
