I am having trouble with new helix Mdi 7 g3n not finding bottom when changing holes. When I go from 1 hole to another it won’t find bottom. I have to pull transducer out of the water wipe it with my hand then it will finally register bottom. Anyone else having this problem?

There is lag…..sometimes 10 seconds or so. Mine always comes to tho. I would advise you to check if you are running the latest software.

I have newest software. mine will sit for minutes or who knows how long if I leave it sit. I expect the lag but this is not that. Contacted humminbird they said it happens and when I change holes I should put unit to sleep before I move.

Turn off auto depth if it is on. Make sure it is set to manual and set it about 5 feet deeper than the depth you plan to fish. Should solve the problem.

This was my experience as well. Along with shutting it off and then back on when all else fails.

Thanks I am glad to see I am not the only one maybe if they get enough complaints there will be a software fix. I will try manual depth. The sleep mode is not too bad as long as I remember before lifting it out of the hole Hit power button scroll up and right. when back in the water push power button. It really sucks when you lift transducer to land a fish and put it back in and it won’t read. The school is gone before you get it reset.

It’s one of the bigger flaws of the Helix that’s been around for years.

How they can’t fix a bug that consistent is crazy.

It’s not an issue once you turn off the auto depth. Set it for the depth you are fishing when you turn it on and you won’t have an issue all day.

i have a helix 7 g2n and it seems to have gotten better after the update, still a lag, and its in “auto” mode.

The other annoying glitch is where it wipes your GPS location when you change views, still cant believe they havent come up with a update since this past July…

That’s all fine and good if you know what depth your hole “should be”, but it would be a huge PITA on lakes not well mapped, and lakes with sharp breaks.

They need to fix the issue with their auto feature. Everyone else has it figured out, why can’t they??

Maybe they haven’t fixed it because not everyone experiences these issues? Mine is set to auto and doesn’t do that, except a little lag when I take the ducer in and out. Going to try manually to see if the lag is gone but never really bothered me.
My older Ice55 had problems picking up bottom in auto so I always picked manually.
