Strange that a new Helix G3 would not have the latest software pre installed. I checked mine I bought back in October it has the 2.110 version in it. Still the problems you are describing do not sound like a software update problem more than it does some settings issue. I’m sure you know to make sure your transducer is just slightly below the ice. I have to remind myself of this and other basic things at the start of every year.
I would suggest calling Humminbird customer service they are generally really good. I too have the Lakemaster Plus card. I’m currently trying to figure out how to clear all the tracks left by my gps on the map from running around Red Lake last weekend.
