Hello. My new helix 7 g3 has terrible lag when hole hopping and takes over 5 seconds to read depth. Was hoping it’s an update issud, the unit says its version 2.030 and the update is 2.110. I cannot get the helix to recognize the update file or even try to update. It reads the card since I have a lakemaster map on it but it doesnt update.. any ideas ?

Strange that a new Helix G3 would not have the latest software pre installed. I checked mine I bought back in October it has the 2.110 version in it. Still the problems you are describing do not sound like a software update problem more than it does some settings issue. I’m sure you know to make sure your transducer is just slightly below the ice. I have to remind myself of this and other basic things at the start of every year.

I would suggest calling Humminbird customer service they are generally really good. I too have the Lakemaster Plus card. I’m currently trying to figure out how to clear all the tracks left by my gps on the map from running around Red Lake last weekend. Good luck with your issue and post what you did to resolve it please.

Yeah it’s strange. I had it up at red and hole hopping was frustrating waiting for the depth to load. I even put it on manual depth of 15ft…

That was going to be my other suggestion was manual depth setting. Were you fishing near someone else getting interference maybe? Did you have your chirp turned on?

No I was 100yds away from someone all day. It read fine just sitting there but when I pulled it out of the water and dropped in another hole it just froze…I emailed humminbird but it wasnt much help. Is the chirp just for interference rejection ?

To the best of my knowledge that what the chirp is for is interference rejection is it’s only function. I remember reading you have to have it turned off when you change the cone angles and frequencies. These are complex pieces of equipment but I love mine.

I think if you call tech support you will have better luck.
