Helix 7 Ice

  • #1983766

I’ve been on the lookout for a good deal on an Ice Helix 7 for a while now. I found them listed for as high as $800 and as low as $450 (I was too slow on that deal) from all over the internet. To put it simply, I’d rather buy used than have to pay retail for it. That kind of money is hard to come by for a high school student that has to help pay for college. People have recommended buying the unit itself separate from the actual ice pack, but I would need a good deal on the actual unit for the price to actually decrease.

I’ve heard talks that Reeds might do an ice fishing show special online (because they’re isn’t an actual show this year) but I’m not sure how credible those rumors are.

So basically I’m asking if there’s a way to get the price down from MSRP.

    Thanks and tight lines,
    FDCMN

Getting a good used vex might be OK for now, could sell it back for close to what you paid for it, people will always want to give a guest something to use.The 2 big pluses for the Helix is the mapping and you can also use it in your boat. Is the mapping part a big thing for you? Are you on big lakes a lot? That vex will show you everything under your hole and in most cases as far off to the side as what the fish will see, so you are in the game as much as anyone IMO. Stuff is spendy, good luck!

Don’t go broke trying to get into a Helix 7. Look into a Helix 5. Or stick to an old reliable FL-8 or LX-3. They are awesome units that can be had for half the cost if not less and are plenty for a kid scratching his way into college. Plus they are almost bullet proof, so you’ll get plenty of use and not worry about them breaking during your broke years.

I got one FREE when I bought my trolling motor! Unfortunately I had to pay $2300 for the motor😕

This was from Reeds so you are on the right trail. I rarely use it in my boat as it’s on the bow but it is an awesome machine for the ice.
