First time out with Helix 7 Chirp G2N. Running in same house as two Vexilars. I am getting a lot of bottom clutter and when cleaning up having hard time seeing fairly good size jig and minnow in 20 ft of water. What settings should I play with? I don’t think I can adjust frequency with this unit. What should gain and Chirp IR be set at? I have the XI 9 1521 transducer selected. Thanks for any help.

    What software is on it?

The check mark button toggles through Chirp settings. I suggested you toggle through each and see if any helps.

I “upgraded” to 1.83 on my Helix 5 Chirp GPS G2 this weekend and it created a whole slew of issues for me. I went from a perfect ice fishing machine to one I wanted to throw down the hold. sonar was very jittery, I had to increase gain to 15 to see my jig (normally never over 9).

2d sonar jumped from being in Zoom to regular scale, it powered off an on sporadically. IT was a totally different unit and not too unlike your issues.
I am going back to 1.64.

Hey wormdunker, My unit sucks now also after I updated it but I deleted my old version. Do you think you can email me the 1.64 version. If so my email is [email protected].

    Thanks!

Disregard this message. Just noticed you are running the 5 and I am running the 7. Probably different updates

Call HB CS directly, be nice and polite, explain in detail what you are experiencing.

I am sure you will get the right version emailed to you.

If you’re running a Helix 7 Chirp G2N like you say you are, yes you can adjust frequency. Hit “menu” once, and cycle through CHIRP frequencies 1 thru 6 until the interference is gone. If it stays, there’s likely something else going on with your unit. You could try the narrower 15degree cone too and see if that works. I was fishing next to a Panoptix and multiple Vexilars yesterday and had no issues with interference running on CHIRP 2, with the same setup as you. Was picking up 4MM tungsten jigs no problem in 12ft of water, on 13 or 14 gain.

If I remember I will go through my settings tomorrow and tell you how I have mine set up. I have same unit as you. I was right next to vex this evening and had zero issues. Have also been in a house with vex and marcums with zero issues.
