If the price was similar on a Helix 7 mega SI – would you go with a G4 or a G3N?

If it was similar then always go with the newest version

I’d go with the G3N. If you ever have more than one it can network to a more expensive unit.

I’d go G3N as well for the network potential. I got the G3 when it was new and wish I would have spent extra for the G3N as I look to upgrade the boat and add a unit…

I’d give you a great price on a used Helix 7 G2 with HDSI transducer, standard transducer, splitter cable, and ice pack with XI9-1521 ducer.

If you’re interested in something that isn’t the latest and greatest but works incredibly well.

I would get the G3N. I skimp on my G2 and didn’t get the networking because at the time I didn’t think I would need it. The $100 I saved at the time has cost me much more with having to get different units because I needed networking and couldn’t use what I already had.

Only drawback to the Helix 7 G3N is that it is not compatible with Live Imaging if you ever decide to add it. The G4N is as well as any Helix 8 or larger.

Thanks folks – just to add into the mix a Lowrance Elite 9Ti 2. Thoughts? Im not worried about connecting to a trolling motor.

My only feedback about Lowrance is horrendous customer service. I really liked my Hook2-7 Tripleshot, when it worked. I’d like to think the elite is a better product than the Hook2 but I won’t be going back any time soon.
