Okay guys.. Got one here that has me confused. I have a Helix 5 on the bow of my boat. Unit was working fine yesterday. today I got on the water.. dropped the trolling motor and pushed the button to start the unit. I heard the beep. But the screen stayed black.
Okay.. Killed the power to it. about 15 minutes later I figured I would give it another try. Same results. I hear it beep to start but the screen stays black.
Now I figured by killing the power to the unit it would be a hard boot.
By killing power I mean the same as unplugging it. No juice to the hot wire.
    So any ideas?

Unplug the transducer and see if it works.

If it does you have have a bad transducer.

If it doesn’t fix it call Humminbird.

Could be as simple as needing an update. However it could possibly be a bad screen or short inside the unit.

For everyone out there with a Helix, if you have not done an update on your unit yet, I highly recommend doing so. It will eventually lock up and not work. It happened to me, and at the worst possible time. In the middle of Mille Lacs, on my ATV, with a snow storm coming in. Thankfully I had my phone on me.
After the update it has worked flawlessly as well as better than original.
