I read that new Helix gen 2 models will replace the Gen 1 for 2017. There are several new features (something about mapping layers that didn’t get my attention), notably CHIRP sonar in the smaller ones (currently only in the 12) which produces better returns on the 2D sonar.
Helix Gen2 is coming out for the larger screeen sizes in a few months, They are adding chirp to the SI & DI sonar now for extended range, bluetooth connection for your phone (display calls and texts) and layered mapping… I’ve seen several online retailers selling the current Helix 10si for around $1,150, so shop around… are the Gen2 features worth the $500 price uptick? that’s upto you to determine…
I’m happy with my current Helix 10 si…I mean really what more do you want it to do?
