Does it shut off when you turn the big motor on?

big motor was never turned on when it would turn off out of the blue. when I started the big motor it stayed on both times, I had a helix 5 that shut off when big motor started and that was when I hooked it to troll battery! but my 10 was hooked to troll batt but was advised to hook to start batt as low voltage will make it turn off

    Likely a bad connection.

Could be at the battery, at the fuse, or at the plug. Check and clean them all.

Don’t forget the ground side either.

You can adjust the view so that you can see the volts on the screen. It shows up in one of the small windows. You can also set it to auto shut off when the volts get low to save your start battery. I had mine set to save juice in the battery and not leave me stranded. But then sometimes when I would crank the engine it would shut off my Humminbird. Maybe the factory setting is doing this to yours????

different unit but i had a hummingbird get fried because i would leave it on while turning the big motor on. The unit was only a few months old. Cabelas (pre merger) actually gave me a new one even though they didn’t have to which was nice. They recommended that i turn the unit off before firing up the motor to avoid this in the future. I have done so ever since although sometimes i do forget to.

    Crappie, that seems really odd??

Never heard of that one before. Most units run on a wide range of voltage, something like 10-20 volts.

Crappie that does seem odd. I always have my depth finder on to make sure I’m deep enough to fire up the motor without having any issues from starting it in shallow water.

b man but I never ran my motor while it was hooked to start battery? I was just using that start battery for my power source never started or ran big motor when this was going on, thanks
