Anyone in Two Harbors for the Heck mountain bike race? For anyone that doesn’t know what it is, they are mountain bike races on gravel. They have a 20, 55 and 105 mile races. I’m doing the 20. It’s my first time. Based on what I hear about the hills, I’m not going for time this year. I just want to finish it and learn more about gravel racing.

If you think that’s crazy then check out the Superior Fall Trail Race. Roughly the same mileage options but instead of biking gravel roads it’s running single track hiking trails.

I came thru there this morning early. Hoping you did well and that you took band-aids. Dumping a bike on gravel will chop a guy up nicely.

Ended up being a good ride. Wish the colors were a little farther along but still beautiful country. Ended up with a time of 1:34:09. 24th out of 76. 4th in my age group. They really get indepth with their stats. I started farther back in the pack knowing I wasn’t going to be a contender. Ended up passing 38 people and was passed by only 2.

My girlfriend also had a great race. Don’t remember all of her stats but she ended up finishing 12 minutes before me.
