Heated Gloves – Costco

I was in Costco the other day and they had a pair of heated gloves on display. The display model were really comfortable and warm. I think these would be nice for ice fishing. I probably would not wear them all the time, but would be nice to throw on just to warm your hands up. Before I spend the money is there any other options out there that I should consider? Here is a link to the ones Costco has

Those do look interesting. My only comparison would be to using normal big gloves like that (I use Ice Armor) with a hand warmer in them. When using the hand warmer I tend to wait until I’ve gotten too cold and then it takes awhile for that hand warmer to heat up. And sometimes if the hand warmer isn’t as warm as I’d like it I end up wrapping my hand around it, eliminating much dexterity if I want to keep my hand warm.

Does the head run all the way to each finger?

I see it says up to 8 hours of heat. If they’re as good as you felt they were I’d probably get a pair myself. At $99 they’re not exactly cheap but as a guy with always-cold hands this would be a big help on the ice.

It felt like the heat was to the back of the hand and all the way down into the fingers. The 8 Hr’s of course is at the lowest. But I think it said 4 hrs. even at the high setting. Id be curious if there are extra batteries available for them. That way you could change the batteries and put the dead one on the charger in the car or on one of the small portable battery chargers. I doubt Id feel a need to run them all the time – Just often enough to warm up the fingers

These would be sweet in mitten form. I hate big gloves and I fish bare handed 90 percent of the time. Then throw my choppers on for quick warm ups

I fish bare handed and usually keep a propane heater going to warm my hands up. I have some of the older Cabelas heated gloves and those are nice out in the cold weather plowing snow on the UTV

A heated mitten would be ideal. Much easier to get hands into when cold and wet. I’m going to have to do a little research to see if anyone makes them.

The one downside I see to either heated gloves or mittens would be the smell from putting you hands into them after handling fish. From most of the research I’ve done you can’t machine wash most of them. I know most of the gloves and mittens I currently use ice fishing get rather stinky and end up getting washed a few times each season

I bought a pair similar to them 1 year ago . They work well but if expecting them to be cozy warm for 8 hours on one battery you may be disappointed. I opted to get a second set of batteries and that was a good thing but not easy ! I would check availability of replacement batteries before buying the gloves .

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. I looked at the link you posted and there weren’t any reviews, that would be helpful to see what others have though who’ve used them.

Never ceases to amaze me how warm and awesome choppers are and how few people use them. Combined with a hand warmer they are the best option out there for super cold weather imo.

I did a little research and their are several manufactures who make heated Mittens. As is usually the case those that get the best reviews cost the most. I saw some brands that were in the $250.00 – 300.00 range. That’s a little more than I want to spend. May need to do a little more research before dropping the cast on a pair or either the gloves or the mittens.

With chopper mittens I purchased the outer glove in a Extra Large size. I then purchased the liners in a way heavier material than the standard weight liners that go in standard chopper mitts. This setup is great for activities where you hands don’t have to come out often and range of movement is not a factor.
