Red flag. Yeah definitely go somewhere else. Probably wants your hearing to go bad to sell you more expensive hearing aids…

I have been using pro ears 28bt for a few months now. The lack of touch controls is great, no more hoodie or head net setting changes or calls. I did have some wind noise last Sunday with the 20mph gusts. (They do come with foam covers for wind that I do not use). My only complaint is when I’m using the sound amplify mode, I can’t tell what direction gun shots are coming from. Standard noises are fine (duck calls, conversation, etc) if it’s loud enough to limit the decibels, I can’t tell left from right. Not a big deal I guess, just a weird sensation not knowing direction.

Ended up ordering some from a local company in the north metro named Alclair. They have a office/shop that you can stop in at without an appointment and get the molds done for free. They have a passive plug that has a filter in it similar to the Westone’s. Price was competitive at $157 shipped to my door. I ordered them about two weeks ago so hopefully getting them any day now. They also make an electric style that are much more expensive, but it sounds like they run 30% off sales now and then.

Dang that’s half of what i paid for the westones and I’m still waiting for them. Called and they said they will be here this week.

Finally had a chance to try these out hunting. They are comfortable and only really drowned out a little bit of sound. I was able to have a conversation while hunting and could hear the dog working in the brush. They stayed in my ears and never fell out. I would recommend them for the pretty minimal cost of $150, compared to the electric ones. Came with a handy zipper pouch to keep track of them.

Realized I never reported back on mine. Took 3 extra weeks than expected and they made me come to the office to pick them up (not sure why they couldn’t have just mailed them to me). In the field I can hear conversations and the dogs working but cannot hear my page beepers on the dogs albeit I have cheapo Amazon collars with pretty quiet beep. Comfortable for sure. Worth what I paid but those Alclairs look identical (other than colors) to my Westones so seem like a good value.

Another company to reach out to may be Radians. They have a complete line from cheap to great quality.
