Sad but true. It doesn’t happen often but despite some very late nights spent trying to overcome some technical issues and an attempt to get some replacement equipment shipped in overnight from New York last week’s video couldn’t be rescued in time to make it to FSN. So the Leech Lake show will re-air this AM. Sorry everyone. This is one of the downfalls of filming and airing the show in the same week. One hiccup and things fall apart pretty quick. The production team carries lots of spare gear and plans for the worst but this time Murphy’s Law got the best of them. The guys will be back with a new show next Sunday.

Great show and watching it twice means I’ll learn or pick up something I could’ve missed the first time, tough luck happens to the best, good luck getting things in order for next week.
December 14, 2014 at 8:54 am #1483561So no on film pizza rolls on the buddy heater with Cal?

No, we had camera gear along with us, we never leave home without it, but that was more of a research project than anything. We fished on Thursday up on Duluth Harbor. Episodes are due to FSN by Thursday at 2pm so there was no way that trip could make Sunday’s airtime.
December 14, 2014 at 9:27 am #1483575I am not gonna lie….I was a little bummed that it was a rerun. I always look forward to the new episode….but all doesn’t go perfect all the time or we would all be doing it. So will that footage make it for a show…or will it be a complete reset?
December 14, 2014 at 9:47 am #1483581It was a tough morning not having a fresh IDO on my DVR….those pioneers had nothing on our winter hardships we face nowadays! Patience is a virtue
December 14, 2014 at 11:03 am #1483606And here I was bragging about the new show all week. Oh well its why they call it fishing.

B & H Photo Video loves us… we now own 4 back up parts to replace the one that failed should it ever happen again.

The issues was with the audio. It was impossible to fix in a manner that would result in a quality finished product so it goes on the scrap heap. We did get some amazing underwater footage out of the deal which I’m sure we’ll make use of somehow but there’s no way to get a show out of it. And believe me, the editors tried.

Jim ChybaPosts: 29December 14, 2014 at 10:03 pm #1483860Wow glad I didn’t yell at my wife for shutting off the DVR!!! Came how looking for the new episode and didn’t see it. 3 days on the ice and I come home looking for more fishing shows.
December 14, 2014 at 11:09 pm #1483889Hey I seen you guys on the ice in duluth, wondering if you got enough footage for a show? Because it was definitely a rough day out there for me ha!

I had a fat 27″ eye to start the morning on Thursday and the bite slowed down after that with only small eyes to show for the rest of our time up there. As you said, it was a tough bite. I know earlier in the week guys were banging the fish pretty good but the front really turned them off. I hope to get back up there at some point around the holidays. Hopefully the bite turns back on a bit.
December 15, 2014 at 7:42 am #1483940Here is the 27″ that James cracked right away on Thursday morning….and then things went south. We fished our butts off the whole week, it had our number. We definitely learned a lot fishing across Wisconsin and Minnesota but this week it’s going to be more fish centered!

Would you at least be able to post it to Youtube with a disclaimer saying something about the bad audio? It obviously doesn’t have to be edited perfectly and filled with all the glits and glamour of your weekly show.

X2
I’d take that guys, I’m embarrassed to say the number of times I’ve seen all your episodes you have on youtube, without cable and my addiction to fishing I’ve pretty much memorized them all.
December 18, 2014 at 6:31 am #1485550Interesting color on the fish.
Crappy cell phone pic. All the highlights are completely blown out. Not sure why since it was a very overcast day. I blame the guy holding the phone.

If it was possible to save the footage in a way that left me comfortable with the finished product we would have released it. There isn’t… so we won’t.
Our plan is to re-shoot that bite in the next week or two. If you see us release a show from western WI from a lake with very good water clarity that’s the show.
