Hopefully you read this in time.
Hazards are easily avoided by staying in the main river channel during WOT runs. North of Chamberlain there are quite a few trees around Kiowa and Crow Creek. Also, the dam area has hazards like stumps, rocks and sand bars. Following the main chutes on Navionics will keep you and your rig safe.
South of town has less for trees, but some are still around. The east side of the river in the Carpenter area had some trees. I would say to really watch your electronics if you get down by the mouth of the White River. Sandbars are constantly changing there and it can go from 20′ to 2′ without much warning.
The last hazard to watch for is logs floating downstream. Not really all the common but you see them from time to time. They are barely noticeable when they are all water-logged.
It sounds doom and gloom, but it’s really not bad. Just keep an eye out and take it slower until you get a good feel for the river and you’ll be just fine.
The bite has been day to day as of late. Some days are lights out and other days it’s tough. Pretty normal for March. Good luck!
