where Are people mounting the heading sensor for the Minnkota’s?

Is the dash/counsel a good spot? Guessing maybe not due to all the electrical underneath..?

But maybe that’s not that big of a deal

put it anywhere its out of your way and wont get stepped on,kicked, anchor dropped on,away from a ton of electrical interference etc.
just remember to do the offset.

I mounted mine on the back of the boat on the gunnel. I’ve heard you don’t want it real close to the trolling motor

Yes you want it away from electrical interference but remember it is bluetooth so I would try to mount it at least 3 feet from trolling motor but as close after that if possible. I mounted mine on the front side of my full windshield.

The heading sensor is a magnetic compass no matter where you mount it check first with a regular compass to see if you get any deviation if you do pick a different spot. Mine sits on my left gunwale about 3 feet from the trolling motor.

Follow this advice, and as long as it’s in / on the boat, location doesn’t matter because it’s only relaying the magnetic direction to the trolling motor via bluetooth. In my case, it’s just ahead of the console, but it could be anywhere in the boat that isn’t influenced by magnetic fields.
