Anyone else plan a trip weeks ago and are running into 20-30 degree temps? Just me? Ok cool.

    Downsides:
    Brrrrrr
    Cant feel hands
Keeping minnows in water instead of ice cubes
Dressing like the Stay Puff Marshmellow Man
    Old bones

    Bright sides:
    No crowds!
    Cold beer
    Good bite (i hope)
Good friends, family and great stories
    Cold beer and cold beer

    Wish us luck!!!

Pro tip….get some thick rubber gloves from northern tool and wear those under your regular gloves. If you never get your skin wet it’s amazing how much warmer you feel.

Make sure to have your Milwaukee heated sweatshirt along! I fished 8 hours last Saturday in 32* weather-never got cold. Caught a bunch of bass in 46 degree water. I live near Detroit Lakes,MN. good luck.

I was on Cass last weekend, it was a tough bite.

What? My college buddy got some healthy tourney weights and cashed last weekend. He said the eyes and crappies are going good.

First freezing temps, be trolling shorelines adjacent to low/wetlands all night long. The size on some of the frog femur bones i pick out of eater eyes are ridiculous, those gotta hurt coming out! Ill take cold and rain for fishing weather, if you were an amphibian wouldnt you want all your roads and paths nice and wet too?

Good luck, as rootski says, there aint no bad weather, just bad gear!

Well, that’s the difference between someone who knows what they’re doing, and me. Have fun, HRG

I pulled into birchdale around 1 today. It was tough getting dressed and backing the boat in. Lots of wind and sleet but we figured it was better to get the boat in tonight instead of after the snow tonight.

Hey Dave — have you ever fished windigo? My kid is fascinated by the whole lake on an island on a lake thing. Hoping to camp on star island next summer.

Nope, but I have snowmobiled into the lakes on Pine Island on Vermilion. It is amazingly beautiful back there, giant pines that were never forested.

I thought you guys were talking about Windigo, Michigan. (Isle Royale)

Try to wrap your head around this about the whole island-on-a-lake thing. lol

    ———-

Siskiwit Lake (a lake on Isle Royale) contains several lake islands, including Eagle Nest Island, Teakettle Island, Lost and Found Island,[2] and Ryan Island, the largest. Common loons nest and breed on some of these islands.[2]

Ryan Island contains Moose Flats, a seasonal pond, which contains Moose Boulder. When Moose Flats is flooded, Moose Boulder becomes the largest island in the largest lake on the largest island in the largest lake on the largest island in the largest lake in the world by surface area.

Sounds like a pretty serious Matryoshka situation!
