Been dialing in my hds side scan and curious on what setting and color pallets you guys run. I started running blue color and sometimes I feel like I’m great on settings and some days I feel like it’s not great at all. Just looking to see if any one has them dialed in great

I was side scanning this past weekend for the first time.
I get what you mean by good one day and some days not so good.
For example, I was going through a channel with bridge columns and could clearly seem them. The was messing around with settings, on the way back thru I couldn’t see the columns. I tried re-adjusting but nogo.
I did mark a school of crappies which was very cool.

Tom Boley has some good stuff on SI settings, look for stuff from a few years ago when he used it more and was a bit more generous with free content.

I tend to stick to palette 1 or 5. I am really liking palette 5 more and more, it’s kind of an orange/amber color (at least on the new Pros with the HD ducer), and the fish really pop. I leave contrast in auto, and always dial it up until I feel it is a little washed out/hot, and then back off one or two clicks. 800 on the AI or 1075 on the HD requires contrast to be a few clicks higher than 455.
