HDS 9 clock issue

Today as I was idling out from the ramp I noticed the time on my HDS 9 showed three dashes. I played with it some but wanting to get fishing I just let it go. Once home I troubleshot it a lot more and can not seem to find a fix. I have an HDS 9 at the bow and at the console and obviously, both aren’t working.

I’ve tried both soft and hard resets and even reloaded the last update which is several years old. Anyway, nothing is working. When I go to the satellite page it shows the year 2099. I can get the UTC time to display but not my local time.

    Thoughts, help,

    I’m lost,
    Mike

My HDS 9 gen2 touch did the same thing Monday the 22nd October…
everything else is working but the time.

wondering if everyone has the issue now, if so maybe a satellite issue.

Hope someone on here has a fix………

My old (assuming gen 1) hds 7 did this as well Tuesday Oct 23rd. I tried piddling with it, but no luck. I can set the time but the overlay just shows three dashes. Reckon now i have an excuse for getting home late.

    I’ve got some intel…

The Air Force is playing with their satellites. I’m retired A.F. and have a couple of buddies that offered up excuses, from GPS is too good and we need to be able to turn it off in case of a homeland attack (IE think Drone with a bomb attached) to… Our combat pilots have relied on GPS so long they’ve forgotten how to fly analog should someone take our one of our satellites so they are forcing them to play with the scenario.

Lowrance says it’s the A.F. and we should have our clocks back by the first week of next month. My concern is, what if the A.F. decides the current patch is worth keeping, can Lowrance build a workaround and push it to all of us.

    Time will tell (pun intended)

No sir, starting to think this is a Lowrance problem all the way and they were buying time by telling us the Satellites were down. I figured we’d see an update we need to run by now, but it’s quiet as a church mouse in Lowrance land.

It’s a gen 2 problem with Lowrance, Gen3, Carbon, & live have no issues!

Mine stopped on October 15.Google search shows pretty much crickets. My guess is Lowrance will be slow to come out with a fix, only time will tell.

Mine quit October 20th and has not come back as of this past weekend. Also when looking at old waypoints on Lake Erie the date they showed on all of them was October 20th but I know they were created last fall out there. So there is a major problem with the Gen2 units right now but let’s hope they correct it since they’re old units. I hope it’s not let’s see how many Gen2 owners get frustrated and start buying new Gen3 units

I think they are more interested in selling CARBON and LIVE versions.

FYI guys, Lowrance has released a new SW update that will fix the clock issue on the gen2, gen2 touch and some hook models. Check out their website.

Hey Captain, please provide a link. I’m looking right now, and it shows Gen2 Touch version 6, released 2016.

EDITED: Found it. Called Legacy GPS Patch.
