HDS 7 and structure scan question

So I’m purchasing a used boat that has an Lowrance HDS 7 with structure scan with it. I’ve never used a Lowrance before (use Humminbird now). From my brief internet search it appears there were/are different generations of this unit. Any way to tell which generation I have? I think it’s an older model. Structure scan is a separate unit it appears.

I’ll have a newer Terrova on the boat, so my sense is it won’t link with that like a Humminbird might.

I figure I’ll at least try it for awhile to see how I like it.

Menu, System, About. It will give you all the information as to model, and latest updates. If it has a micro sd card slot it is late model gen 2. Probably a gen 1 or early gen 2.

Yes, there are different variations. There was an LSS-1 and LSS-2 (most current). To make things more complicated the original HDS units, HDS 5, 7, 8, 10, etc that are NON-touch units (either Gen1 or Gen2) required the structure scan box as well. The Gen2 Touch units have the brains of the operation built into the head unit.

So, do you have a touch or non-touch HDS 7?
If its non-touch I think the structure scan box says whether its LSS-1 or LSS-2 on it.

When test driving the boat, I do recall it had an SD card slot, though.
