I am looking at buying preferably one chip – or reluctantly 3. Scenario — fish the following lakes:

    1. Oahe – 50%
    2. Devils Lake 10%
    3. Leech 10%
    4 LOW – 5%
    5 Sak – 5%
    6. Rest of the time spent on local MN lakes

The Navionics chip looks like it has all my lakes in 1″ contours other then dl. I have spent a considerable time on dl in the last 15 years, I dont need definition on that lake. Lakemaster has them but I need to buy three chips.

What is the real truth as to the difference between the two. I am using a 958c for the chips. Will I be happy with the navionics, how to the two differ as to working in the locator?

If you end up needing a Bird chip for ND, let me know as I have a few and would sell you one for a very fasir price.

I would have to look to see if it is a HD map for DL. It has many other states on it also.

    No Minnesota though.

Stop by your local retailer- Scheels, Gander, etc and play with the chip in one of their units to see the difference first hand. Made a difference for me.

I can tell you running the Navonics on Pool 4, it is not very accurate. I realize water depths vary on the river, but I’ve noticed this on other MN lakes as well. To be fair, I’ve got the 2008 Navonics Premium. Not sure if the solved this for 2010/2011.

I’ve got the 2010 LakeMaster for my HBs and it’s much more accurate

If you’re running a ‘Bird, the Water Level Offset feature of the Lakemaster card will be handy for Oahe. But you can’t really go wrong with either choice.
