I would take a look at all the lakes you fish and then see which chip has the best HD maps for those lakes.

I use both the LM and Nav chips and some of the LM chips like Rainy lake and LOW and Rainy river. Lm has some great chips but Nav also offers some helpful.

For me, 90% of the time, I have a LM chip in the units I run.

I also like th LM chips as they seem to zoom in and out much faster than the Nav chips.

Nav seems to be better with the trade in on the older chips to upgrade but one usually has no issues selling 1 year old chips to upgrade annually when they upgrade with more HD lakes.

I have both the 2010 LM Minnesota and the 2009 Navonics. The Navonics is up in the bow and I use the LM for actual searching and navigation.

The Navonics seems to be off enough to be of concern. It also doesn’t have the detail. I do know Navonics is working on this, not sure if they’ve made progress.

I have both as well. Each one does some things better than the other. Detail wise Lakemaster is better, but they don’t cover as much water as Navionics. I look at it this way if you already dropped 3k on your 1198 what is another $225? Get both.

I agree Mojo, whats another few hondos when one already spent the bank?

If one can afford it, it’s great to enjoy all the maps out there.

They do run into a few dollars though.

I went with LM. I love that I can highlight shallow water in one color and higlight depths I want to fish in another. Used it today for the first time….. SWEET is all I can say!
