I’m looking at buying a 788ci. Looking for comments from anyone who has one.

I love the mine but I sure would like an 1198 . In all seriousness the unit has been great. I have had mine for 3 years now and have not had one problem. I had to learn to adjust the sensitivity and I had to get the transducer set up right but after that it has been a great tool. I like the internal antenna on the unit too. I have mine mounted behind the windshield and have not had any GPS reception issues.

Great unit, I had one on my last boat. Bullet proof

I have the 798c si. Same specs plus side imaging. It is one nice unit and actually has a higher resolution display than the 800 or 900 series. The lakemaster chip rocks. First thing I do after launching the boat is calibrate the water level offset. I can attest to it being bullet proof too, I’m too embarrassed to tell the story let’s just say it can take a beating.

Will my 2009 lake master chip work in this unit?

Bruce, is your LakeMaster chip a Humminbird chip? If so, it should work in the 788ci. If it’s just a regular LakeMaster Chip, it will not work in there (I think).

The 788 is a nice unit. A little small (screen size) but a nice unit. I’m running two 900 series in my boat and I would like to upgrade to the 1100 series just for more screen size.

Have it and love it. Just ordered the Lake Master chip for it from Wade. Only problem I have is that I’m 62 and not very smart on this stuff, got a daughter that loves to fish and showed me how to use it to it’s max. Had a 700 series, lower number, daughter bougth for me for Christmas 2 years ago. Got ripped of, Wade replaced it with the 788 and what the insurance paid off it cost me 25. I think the biggest problem with fishing with these units is, trust them but fish.
