HB Bundled or not???

Going to take the plunge into HB Si units to replace old electronics in my boat and I was wondering if getting the bundled navionics stuff in the unit would inhibit use of mapping chips like Lakemaster. I would always be using a mapping chip anyways so is there any reason to buy the pre bundled unit?

    thanks

For me, bundled is absolutely the way to go. It costs a little more on the initial purchase. But I travel all over the mid west when I can, and I have at least one version of a map to get me by. Its as simple as plugging in a SD card to use the other. and Congrats on making the right jump. Besides the Hum/bird forum, if you need any further assistance, there is a growing number of us on here that can help you out!

The preloaded maps do not inhibit the use of other mapping chips. If you are using the map chips, which have more current information and quite a few more lakes mapped, don’t waste the $200 on the preloaded maps.

Randy, don’t even try to help Joe…. His nickname is DT, which stands for “Down Time”… He’ll break it in the first month of use anyway… You should see what he did to his Lowrance unit up at Rainy….

Just kidding DT, er, I mean Joe… You get that thing and the i-pilot installed, I’ll meet you at Red Wing in April.

Great choice you will love the Hbird.

I am with Randy on this one I have the bundle. If you travel much for fishing it is a great way to go. Me personally I would not buy a unit without it. Want to go to Truman reservoir for a winter trip, don`t need to buy a chip it`s covered.

    Ummm…. YES.

BTW, good luck with “the boss”. Between an 1197 and an i-pilot, I’d say you are MUCH better off asking for forgiveness in this one….

I have 2 Bird units in the boat and one I purchased the bundled nav maps. Well worth it and if I chose, I can also put any of my cards in.

    Best of both worlds.

Best darn units I have ever owned.
