Do any of you install a Humminbird in say your pickup for driving on lakes in the winter? If so which unit do you use and how do you have it hooked up?

I have an old H2O and just think a bigger screen would be nicer. Anyway just a question.

    Thanks

I ran a lowrance global map 3600 IGPS in my truck for about 3-4 years. Combined with a lakemaster chip, bigger screen it was nice, drove right to where I wanted to fish w/o the small screen. It also worked nice because my instrument cluster in my truck went out so I didn’t have a speedometer for a while so the GPS doubled as my speed gauge.

Any internal gps or even a puck mounted on the dash would work fine…all you need is a cig adapter for power.

Also when the ice wasn’t thick enough I would take this same unit and mount it via ram to my snowmobile, still plug into the cig adapter and away you go! I like the bigger screen when driving a sled or wheeler.

I saw Calvin a few years back at a gas station and noticed hisbigger screen in his truck and loved it, I now run an hds 7 in my truck but am looking to ditch lowrance alround and am wondering if bird makes units with an internal antenna at all, I don’t need more crap on the dash board

I now run a 7″ HDS on my dash and with the current software updates it works great. sucked with the old software revision!

I think the Garmin Nuvi 700 series is compatible with Lakemaster chips, but keep in mind that the chip has to be made for Garmin. Garmin does things to make their items proprietary.

BTW all Humminbird model numbers with an “i” at the end has an internal antenna.
