    Hi guys,
I know this probably looks like a setup but it is funny just the same. A Lowrance guy would be having a heart attack.

I enjoyed it just the same .

Pretty cheesy staged infomercial. Takes away from the ‘bird credibility in my opinion.

I have a Lowrance 520c that spent 20 some hours submerged under 2.5 feet of water. (On console of overturned boat.) I’m still running that unit today. No problems at all!

    Agree, bad acting there.

Cool trick with the floating unit. Staged poorly, but I get the point. My solution with my Lowrance is to not drop it in. Still running the same old junkie x-15

    Hi guys,
Here is Doug’s reply to the staging video charges…

“I can tell you if it was staged I would not of had all my recordings and images on my blank SD Card and Navionics Platinum Card in the unit. And I think I would have used a less expensive unit than the 1197c. But nice thing is Humminbird says there units are designed to float and are waterproof. I found out the hard way. Hope no one else has too.” A quote from the Yahoo Groups website.

You Lowrance guys get real sensitive about your (made in Mexico from obsolete parts) sonar box’s.

    Take care,
    Roger

Ok if he is doing an infomercial for Hummingbird I am guessing they wouldnt be giving him a 5″ or 7″ screen to use. Obviously they are going to give him the big unit and you can put in any chip to the chip holder. If it did sink they would just give him a different unit. I mean how much would it really cost the company. Not fooling me. This is staged 100%. BUT GOOD TRY!

If you had a bird would it have kept the boat upright???

No. But my Ranger supposedly has “Level Upright Flotation”. I really don’t want to test this out. Staged or not!!!

I have been doing numerous help Tips and Tricks for the last several years to help answer the numerous questions I get on forums, the SI Group and by direct contact to help others. This was the 3rd Video Clip I had done to answer questions I get. This was in no way a planned experience. And have a list of other topics to cover in future clips. If it was planned I would have totally done it differently. I pride myself in taking care of my equipment as it is my tools for my fishing career. I don’t recommend others trying it and I didn’t plan on trying it but I feel alot more relieved that my Humminbirds will float and are waterproof. Been told they are but I didn’t want to try myself . Think if I was going to actually stage this I would have removed my Navionics Platinum Card and SD card with numerous recordings and hundreds of images that I have spent hundred of hours obtaining. You have the right to your own opinions but I know it was not staged to happen but the best thing is other Humminbird owenrs are finding out that Humminbird has designed features into all the head units to float and be waterproof.

Agree. Got the point across, but staged all the way, IMO.

Take a hds10 and submerge it for 20 hours and see what happens.
