Humminbird 91C unit not reading the lake master

I posted a like post on Humminbird forum, but want to get other opinions here. I bought a Humminbrid 8917C unit from Wade at Jolly Ann over the winter. Have yet to hit the water with this unit until hopefully this week. All seems to be functional except the unit does not display the contour lines or depths on any lake maps. I have gone into the chart view and the top t boxers are eith “all or MMC/SD”, still no depth or map displayed. can anyone please help. thanks Dave

Are you zoomed in close enough to see them, if your on like 5 mile scale you need to zoom in to see them I think.

Has this unit been updated to have the functionality to display a lakemaster chip?

Wade said the same thing. Now I’m tyring to figure out how to do. Wade sent me a link, but I’m trying to figure out how to do this. Do I need a blank SD card, then download from Huminbird and then into the unit. I wish the instruction were for dummies like me.

after much to do, I have found my software version is of pre lake master version. The unit arrived with version 3.72. The lakemaster compatibility is version 4.75. Now I just need to figure out how to download from my computer into SD card and upload into the unit. I think I get the 1st part. but where or what views do I select to upload into the unit? thanks for the patience here.. I’d rather be out fishin than messin with this stuff.

So you’ve downloaded the update to your SD card off of HB.com, right?

*** HB recommends restoring all default settings prior to updating. So to do this (before you update), go into the “settings menu” (I think…?) and scroll down until you find the “Restore defaults” or something like that.

The rest couldn’t be simpler. Go put that card into your HB unit. Turn it on. It might ask if you want to run the update, just tell it yes (can’t remember if it asks first or not)… It does take a few seconds to update, so be patient for it to finish.

Pretty easy, really.

ran the update and now the unit is displaying the lakmaster chip. thanks
