To make fish really stand out in SI Use the high setting in SI enhance menu. The overall picture may be not as pretty but the fish about jump out making them much easier to see. I tried this on my unit and makes a big difference. If just looking for structure us off low or medium to pretty up the picture.

    “HI” setting of what?

The SI enhance mode gives you three quickly adjustable settings. Contrast, Sensitivity, and Sharpness if I remember correctly.

I assume you are talking contrast or sharpness??

Sharpness on high = seeing more fish but less pretty picture.

Right I have the 797csi and only have the 455khz. On my small screen what a big help it is.

Ive tried all the SI Enhance settings under all circumstances, and come to find out I have it either on off or Low all the time.
I dont care for the graininess of the other settings.

    Personal preference I guess.

If I am just looking for structure I run either off or low in sharpness. If I want to pick fish out then I turn up the sharpness. I would rather see fish then just have a pretty picture.

Are you saying the fish mark (white) shows up better, or the shadow (dark) shows up better than before? Or both?

I tend to rely mostly on shadows (in relation to any white marks) when interpreting the images, they often tell waaaay more of the story than the just the white marks…. Often I won’t hardly see a white mark, but the shadow just pops…

If fish are very close to the bottom. open water, or in structure on my small screen it can be hard to pick fish out. Depending on how big and distance a fish may only be 1 or 2 pixels in size. Turning sharpness up helps fish stand out.

Thanks for the good viewpoints! Always nice to hear HOW people are using the awesome technology and make it work for them.

Pulling lead last evening on Pepin…whenever we saw fish and then a shadow, we knew we were prime to get bit because they were the aggressive fish and the bigger fish. See a shadow = crank up the lead a bit = nice sauger. Drag the bottom or come up too high = short sauger. It took us no time to dial it in and game on for 2 hours. Those Enhancement settings are worth playing around with to find your comfort level.

My 3 year old ran the trolling motor and was a goalie-like net man. He cranked in his limit (threw all back) of nice saugers too. Get out there!
