All right guys I’m back for more advice. I got my new ranger home and I have my 898 moved over to the new boat, all is done but the transducer mount. It is a 620 ranger and I need some location advice so I only do this once, I think I would cry if I had to put any unneccessary holes in that pretty fiberglass LOL. If anyone has any pics I would appreciate seeing them. One side note I am having a jackplate installed and was wondering if I could mount the ducer to that some how? I am only trying to get slow speed readings this time as the boat is already rigged with a very nice 111 lowrance with a shot thru hull ducer that I plan on using for 2D and high speed readings. Thanks in advance

Hard to explain, but I’ll look for some of my pictures! Try the Ranger forum for tons of answers. Congrats on the new boat, and let me know if you want to get rid of that 111!

Get a transducer mounting board. It gives you some wiggle room and no extra holes in the boat. I just put one on and it is really nice for fine tuning the transducer.

Yes you can mount the transducer to the jackplate. In researching new SI units I’v seen a lot of guys using their jackplate as a mounting location. It seems to work great for them.

Which SI transducer are you using/installing? The big canoe paddle/duck foot looking one or the high speed? They also have a nice through hull that works great mounted through the set back just forward and under the jackplate that only takes one hole to mount… Let me know as I have mounted a few of them on 621’s and will help if I can.

If you are getting a jackplate i would suggest using a product from this company. Transducer Shield and Saver

They are made to bolt right onto your SI transducer and will bolt right to the jackplate. You can read alot about them on Bass Boat Central, guys swear by them. They make them for most all jackplate designs and manufacturers.

I am mounting the big Si ducer, I have seen the ducer saver site before but they sure seem pricey for what the pics show and they only show the bracket not what the ducer looks like installed so it is only speculation as far as what the final install would look like

    DH,
    What year is the 620?

IS the transom fairly square to the world, or is it angled.

We just mounted a HDSI on a 2004 620 and had to build a custom transom saver because of the angled transom.
