Y connector?

I have the 998c. It has been recommended that performance could be enhanced with two transducers connected by Y cable. How does this work? How does the 998c know which transducer to use? Is there a switch that I have to toggle?

The pin pattern in the Y cable is such that it only used the 2D transducer (shoot through hull or skimmer) for 2D sonar and the SI transducer for DI and SI (and, I think, temp readings). No switches of any sort required.

998c on Alum. 1750 Crestliner. ?? Does the 998c take readings from both transducers. the SI at slow speed and the 2d at fast speed? How does this work?

Speed is GPS speed unless you have a paddlewheel accessory installed.

Thank You for your reply. I was referring to the signals from the transducers. The SI sends a signal to the 998c unit and the 2D sends a signal to the 998c unit. How does the H 998c deal with two transducer signals?

As I said above, the pin pattern is different for the plugs running to the two transducers. There are 5 active pins coming out of the head unit roughly in the shape of a T. The central pin is active in both ends of the Y (it is present in both the 2D and SI transducer connectors…I believe it is to power the crystals in the transducers). In the 2D transducer, only the top pin is also active, while in the SI trandsucer, the left, right, and bottom pins are active. The Y cable ensures that all 2D data always comes from the 2D transducer, while SI/DI data is collected from the SI transducer (as well as temp, I believe).

(That pin info is from memory; I hope it’s correct!)
