I have a 987csi with last January’s update. I puchased the LakeMaster IA/IL Humminbird chip and my unit will not reconize it on a soft or hard boot.

It is susposed to as I understood the web. ???

    Got anything?

I helped someone else out with this problem a few weeks ago.

This is direct from the factory: The original intention of Humminbird and Lakemaster was to have the 987 be capable of running Lakemaster chips through the standard software update that the rest of the units received. However, hardware limitations on the 987 prevented this from happening. As a result, the 987 does not support Lakemaster chips.

Text on both the Humminbird and Lakemaster websites needs to be updated to reflect this 987/Lakemaster compatibility issue.

    Thanks Jason,
There went a $ hundie, I bought it based on web stating its compatibility. Package states no return after opening seal. If that don’t burn all.

    Sorry I thought I stated.
HPILIAC01-Lakemaster Illinois / Iowa Digital Chart, bought from Bass Pro Shops, Altoona IA. $119.99

I have not talked to BPS yet but package states “Opened product cannot be returned to retailer, Hummm, I will give Lakemaster a call and see if they will do anything.

I would keep it and wait for one to 2 years untill I can spring for a new unit but thats silly thinking imo.

Called Lakemaster they stated to return to BPS if any issue to call him.

Called BPS and he thought it should be no issue, YEA!
