My new Bird’s rock!

I made the journey down to P4 today for the first time with my new “Bird’s” and all I can say is WOW!!!! I was fishing an area that was getting beat on pretty hard and started playing with my side imaging. I found a small tear drop shaped depression in 17 FOW in the sand. It looked like the depression wasn’t much bigger than my boat and from what I could tell it dropped down from 17 to 19 fow. I marked it on the 1197 and went up to the bow dropped the trolling motor and carefully positioned myself over the drop. It only took 2 rise and fall movements of my rod and I laid into a nice eater sauger. We continued to work this little spot and managed to get 6 nice eaters and about 10 that we let go and a really nice walleye that measured 27″. I can honestly say that I will not be looking back to the “L” word and I am glad I finally got a “Hummer” as everyone on this site has been calling them. I want to also thank Randy W for the 30 minute tutorial over the phone on how to set up my units. They worked flawlessly. I will be going to get an sd card tomorrow so I can find that depression again and take a snap shot of it.

All of the new technology we have available these days isn’t worth a hill of beans if it doesn’t help you catch fish.

Sounds like your new Humminbird Side Imaging system has proven itself on its first trip out.

Congrats on the great fish, and once again, welcome to the family!

I guess all I have left to say is…. “I told you so!” LOL – Glad to hear you had a successful trip out. Very similar to my first trip out with mine. They really do open your eyes to looking at the water column differently.

That Randy W sure is a helpful guy isn’t he. I planned a Nov. fihing trip to pool 7 last year, having never been on the river i was a little nervous. Randy gave me a good enough mental image of the area,it felt like i had already been there. Helped me make a memorable fishing trip with my boys.

You can’t save a screenshot on an HB without a card inserted??

I’m glad to hear you liked your unit. I just put one on my boat after seeing Jason’s webcast. I can’t wait to get the boat back in the water and see the ‘whole picture.’

    Keep up the good work!

    Nice!

That’s one of the biggest deterrents for guys making the switch to another brand. We think it will take too long to learn the new system. These new units are not tough to learn, AND there is a ton of help right here on IDO if anyone gets stuck.
