I don’t mean to be naive yet I hear a tremendous amount of talk about updates to the HB’s. Where do they come from, what site, and how often does a person have to update their units? I have to assume whatever site it is explains the process, is there any specific equipment needed? thanks

You download them from humminbirds website to your computer and put on a SD card to install on your unit. not all units need or have updates.

right on h birds website. you have to register your unit, then it shows what updates are available. ive had mine for a year and upadted it twice. maybe takes all of 5 min to dl to the computer, put on a card, and update the graph.

You need an SD card and a card reader. I used my digital camera as my card reader & it worked fine. Very simple!

The most recent or newest update will have all of the previous changes to the unit included with it plus any new ones for that update. So, all you would need to download is the one update to bring you model up to “speed” so to speak.
