Which ram mount are you 997/998 guys running? I need to upgrade from the old 1″ ball.

I have the 2″ ram mount with a 1197 and it would tilt down all the time, so I ended up drilling two holes through the upper ball by the locator and put two stainless bolts through to hold it in place. That worked well if anyone has the same issue.

I just ordered the large ram mount which I intend to use with an 1197. Not too late to change my mind, though, and I’ve been a little nervous this very issue. Can someone please post a picture or link for the stabil mount?

I run the 2″ ball on both my 997 and my 917. I’ve been told that they’ll start to shift over time. Currently I have to tighten them really tight when traveling so they don’t shift. I was tole once to use course sand paper and rough up the ball and the socket for better grip.

Here are the Stabil-Mounts. There is the standard model and the “Shorty” and also one with the optional GPS puck mount. Your electronics will not move no matter how rough its gets and they also make taking your units off very quick and easy. You can also PM me for more info
