It looks like I am going to be purchasing an 1157c. I have a ton of waypoints on my current card which is a Garmin Data Card—rectangular shaped. Does anyone know a way to electronically get those waypoints onto the HB unit?
    Thank you in advdance,

The problem with garmin is that the garmin chip is not an SD card so getting a card reader for your computer to read it isn’t easy. When I went from Garmin to HB I had a data cable that I could plug into my computer and the wall for power to the garmin head unit that I could transfer the info to my computer, and convert them into HB waypoints. I am pretty sure you would need to do the same, or find a garmin card reader.

You stated that you have the Garmin Waypoints on a Garmin Data Card. Are you pertaining to the Micro SD Card? If you have them on a SD Card we should be able to convert waypoint in Humminbird PC.

I don’t know what an old Garmin data card looks like. I do have a method that will work for you if you can get your Garmin waypoints onto an SD/MMC card, or have another way to import them to your PC (I’m not familiar with how Garmin does that).

I’ll get that document posted on my website sometime today, and will let you know here when I get that done.

OK thanks. The older chip models look like this—scroll down you will see some:

Called Garmin and they said I need a card reader and a program called Homeport to read the waypoints and the mapping off the chip. I should then be able to save the waypoints onto my PC. The person said the waypoints are written to be recognized by Garmin only and that he was not aware of any means to make them readable by a HB. Hopefully somebody knows a trick!

Once you have them on a PC gpsbabel should be able to convert them for you.

That is the chip I had. I have the garmin software still so if you can get the waypoints on your computer you could email them to me, and I will convert them to HB for you, and email them back to you. send me a PM if you want me to do that for you.
